The Canucks were eliminated by math after a 2-1-1 record at the Steve Richey tournament in Peterborough. After dropping the first contest 3-0, the Canucks outscored opponents 15-2 and did not advance. Special thanks to the Peterborough Petes organization for running a fun event.
Game 1 vs. Niagara North Stars (L 3–0)
The Canucks opened the tournament against a strong Niagara North Stars squad, ultimately falling by a score of 3–0. Challenging travel conditions, including a snow-covered and slow drive, resulted in several players arriving just prior to puck drop. Despite the circumstances, the team competed hard throughout the game but was unable to generate any scoring. Goaltender Kaiden Harper delivered a strong performance, making 35 saves to keep the Canucks competitive.
Game 2 vs. Grey-Bruce Highlanders (T 1–1)
The Canucks controlled much of the play, spending the majority of the game in the offensive zone and generating over 40 shots on goal. However, limited finishing resulted in a 1–1 tie. Iyad Osman scored the lone goal on a late breakaway, while Matthew East turned aside 20 shots in net.
Game 3 vs. CIHA Academy (W 4–1)
Continuing their offensive pressure, the Canucks recorded 50 shots on goal and converted four of those opportunities in a 4–1 victory. Goals were scored by Nash Kelly, Tyler Burtenshaw, Alex Brereton, and Charlie Matsos.
Game 4 vs. North York Rangers (W 10–0)
The Canucks closed out the tournament with a decisive 10–0 win over the North York Rangers, highlighted by an eight-goal third period. Despite the dominant performance, tournament standings mathematics prevented the team from advancing to the Sweet 16, bringing the Canucks’ run at the Steve Richey Tournament to an end. Alex Brereton and Nash Kelly each recorded hat tricks, while Matthew East earned the shutout. Peter Duffy added two goals, with Isaak Sadikovic and Knox Scarrow also contributing to the scoring.
