The Canucks spoiled the party for two of the top three teams in the Alliance U16 AAA division, as the Huron Perth Lakers and Brantford 99ers entered the weekend with a combined 27–4 record and 14 committee-selected Alliance Prospects.
Playing both games at home and backed by strong support from family and friends, the Canucks rose to the occasion and did not disappoint. An outstanding performance from goaltender Kaiden Harper, who turned aside 39 shots, kept the Canucks competitive throughout the game.
Special teams proved to be the difference, as power-play goals from Iyad Osman and Cooper Cote led the way to an impressive 3–1 victory.
Coming off a grueling contest the day before, the Canucks showed resilience as they rallied to battle a strong Huron Perth Lakers squad, who had previously defeated them in convincing fashion.
Goaltender Matthew East returned for his first regular-season game since October and proved to be the catalyst in preserving the 1–1 final with a standout performance between the pipes.
The Canucks’ lone goal came on the power play, as Nash Kelly capitalized on a great setup from Alex Brereton.
Earning three points against such strong competition is an incredible feat, and the players are excited to carry that momentum into their next contest on the road against Sun County on Friday, December 19.
GO NUCKS! 💙🏒
