The U16AAA Canucks were able to secure 3 of 4 points this weekend against 2 tough opponents. After the 2-1 win over Sarnia on October 18th, the Canucks had to re-energize and compete against a strong Windsor Jr. Spitfires team.
Game Recap
Heading into the third period, the Canucks held a 2–0 lead following a power-play goal by Mason Mizzi and a backdoor tap-in by Nash Kelly, set up by a terrific pass from Iyad Osman.
Windsor responded in the final frame, capitalizing on two power-play opportunities and benefiting from an own goal to take a 3–2 lead. With time winding down, the Canucks called a timeout and pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker. The strategy paid off—after a shot from Iyad Osman created a scramble in front, Cooper Cote battled hard to bury the equalizer, tying the game at 3–3.
The Canucks would like to extend a special thank-you to Nico Gicante (brother of #8, Matteo Gicante) for reading the lineup ahead of Sunday’s game.
The team now heads into the Alliance Championship Weekend with a strong 2–0–2 regular-season record.
