Major Atom Chiefs Battle at Notre Dame, Home of the Fighting Irish
Last weekend, the Major Atom Chiefs came off the team bus all smiles after an exciting four days of hockey! The team traveled all the way to Indiana to play in the STX Shootout at the Compton Family Ice Arena, located on the University of Notre Dame campus.

While the parents relived their own school memories being on a campus, the boys soaked up the experience of playing the very best of North America’s AAA teams. These Chiefs battled hard in all five games at this invite-only showcase weekend. Three of the teams they played ranked in the top ten of the USA but these Chiefs came to compete - they finished the weekend with the most “goals for” and came in an impressive third overall for the weekend.

On Saturday night, everyone put on their green, blue and gold and returned to the home of the Fighting Irish. They sang, chanted and cheered along with the School Band for the Irish as they claimed a 3-0 victory against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The team was thoroughly impressed by goaltender Dylan St. Cyr as he finished the game with an exciting 33-save shutout.

Before boarding the bus to head home, the weekend was capped off with a tour of the state-of-the-art Notre Dame Hockey Team dressing room. The facilities were impressive, and it didn’t escape this team’s notice that the Fighting Irish also focus on being a TEAM – even in their lounge the games available focus on teamwork and team bonding.

After four days, five games, and over 16 hours on a bus together, these Major Atom Chiefs have strengthened their bond and their resolve to push hard and work together as at TEAM to fight their way to the top.
