Minor Midgets Officially Qualify for the OHL Cup.
OHL Central Scouting announced yesterday in the fourteenth ranking addition that the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs have become the first team to officially qualify for the OHL Cup.

“The Elgin Middlesex Chiefs became the first team to officially qualify for the 2013 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament by advancing to the ALLIANCE Championship with their series win over the Kitchener Jr. Rangers. The Chiefs will face the winner of the series between the Huron Perth Lakers and the Waterloo Wolves” OHL website

Weekly rankings are determined by a panel of OHL Central Scouting Staff and represent the top teams that are competing to play in the annual year-end championship tournament which takes place March 12-17, 2013, at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, ON, and Herb Carnegie Arena in Toronto. The Elgin Middlesex minor midgets have been ranked in the top 5 for 14 consecutive weeks.

This heavily scouted championship features 20 of the top minor midget teams in Ontario and the USA.  The champions and finalists from minor hockey associations in Ontario, including the GTHL, OMHA, ODMHA and ALLIANCE are participating in the tournament. In addition a team from Hockey Northwestern Ontario and the NOHA will compete.

Congratulations to the players and coaches.
