Minor Midgets Win London Jr Knights Gold & Green Invitational in Triple Overtime.
After four round robin games, one very intense quarterfinal and an overtime nail biter in the semi finals the Elgin Middlesex Minor Midgets advanced to the finals to face off against the undefeated York Simcoe Express.
The final again proved how tight the completion has become for this 1997 age group. A win posted against the York Simcoe Express would prove to be an accomplishment in itself since they had not posted a loss in 23 games this season thus far.
After finding themselves coming from behind twice throughout the game the Minor Midgets showed their desire and desperation to succeed and managed to end the game in regulation time with a 2-2 tie to force overtime. It took 3 overtime periods for the EMC Minor Midgets to capitalize and declare themselves the champions.
Congratulations to all the Minor Midget players and coaching staff for their accomplishments this weekend!
