Food Bank Challenge
On Wednesday, Dec. 5, the 2002 Major Atom Chiefs met up with their league rival the London Junior Knights. Traditionally, these two teams play at the highest level on the ice. The Chiefs raised the stakes to battle off the ice as well. The challenge was to see which team could bring in the most non-perishable food items for London’s Food Bank.
The boys from both teams took up the challenge to give back to the community. The 2012 Food Bank "Face Off" was a huge success. Almost one thousand pounds of food was generously donated. Although there was not an official count as to which team won the off-ice "face off," one spectator had it right when she said "the real winner here is the food bank." Congratulations to both teams for showing cooperation and friendship; a rare example in the sport these days. The Chiefs did win the on-ice competition 3-1. :)
