Weekend Report - Nov 5 & 6
Game report Nov 5 vs LJK GOLD

On Saturday, the Chiefs hosted the league leading Goldies(ranked #3 in Ontario). The game was close in the early going with teams trading power play opportunities. With a flurry on “non-calls” and “phantom-calls” that always seemed to favour the visitors, the Chiefs seemed to be perpetually down a man. The Chiefs even blew one right thru the LJK net in the second period with strands of netting sticking out the back of the cage…the goal was summarily disallowed.

The net result was an 8-2 loss to one of the strongest teams in the province. On a positive note, the Minor Midgets only surrendered two even-strength goals during the contest. Goaltender Dan Black #1 turned aside 37 shots from the Knights. Defenceman Frasier Lewis #4 had a 2-goal game, both goals coming on the power play with the help of Brook Hiddink #8 and Cam Garrow #91 on a slick sequence of power play passes.

Game report Nov 6 vs Chatham Cyclones

On Sunday, the Chiefs returned to the Chatham “Barn” to take on the struggling Cyclones who continue to have 2 of their top players out of the lineup following a brawl with Brantford two weeks ago.  Captain Brook Hiddink #8 opened the scoring in the first two minutes on a pass from Will Goodhue #16 and Frasier Lewis #4. Winger Kody Tremblay had a two-point night recording a goal in the final minute of the first period and an assist later in the third period. His goal was assisted by Goodhue #16 and Drew Martin #18. “Marty” assisted on the next goal scored in the second period by Keaton McIntyre #13. Austin Malchesky #66 also recorded an assist on the play. The Cyclones scored late in the second to keep the game in reach.

The third period was all Chiefs with Matt DaCosta #22 scoring off a McIntyre #13 rebound. Drew Martin #18 got his third point of the night with a goal scored 5-hole after carrying the puck to the front of the net. Assists were awarded to Goodhue #16 and Tremblay #17. Sam Vokes #44 scored a power play goal assisted by Hiddink #8 and Andrew Yurek #15 to seal the win 6-1 over the Chatham Cyclones. Goaltender Coleman McDonald #35 turned aside 24 shots. He has surrendered only a single goal in 3 games versus the Cyclones.
