2 for 2 on the weekend
It was a wild weekend for the Chiefs as they battled the weather, questionable referring, and nerves to take both games this weekend.

First on the agenda was a game against the Huron Perth Lakers in Stratford.  It was a long drive Saturday morning as the weatherman did no co-operate.  I'm sure nerves were a little testy after this lengthy and stressful drive for all parents and players.  From what I am told (I was not at this game) we were short handed for much of the first period and a half and were very fortunate to only be behind by 2 goals before we started to get a few breaks of our own.  But, the boys never quit and after killing a lengthy 5-on-3, we scored one of our own to head into the third only down 1.  We managed to tie it midway through the period and with only 1 minute,  or so, remainingwe scored a powerplay goal to win 3-2.  This was a much needed victory, not only for the standing, but for the team's confidence.

Off to the Granton Colliseum for some fun and excitement.  We are all thankful to our hosts, the Chisholms, for allowing us into their home.  It sounds like it was a blast!

As the season winds down, each game is vital to maintain our third place position in the standings.  On Sunday, we had to regroup and prepare for the Chatham Cyclones who ALWAYS get up for us.  It was a bit of a slow start for the Chiefs and the Cyclones took an early 3-1 lead.  In this game, the Cyclones were the ones questioning the officiating as they seemed to be taking the majority of the penalties.  They built their lead, however, on the powerplay and now the Chiefs have responded, also on the powerplay, and the game was tied soon enough.  More penalties were assessed, and more powerplay goals were scored by both teams.  There was also a short handed goal by the Chiefs.

This was a wild one but the CHiefs managed to hold on for a 7-6 win.  I believe 8 of the goals were powerplay goals.

Now the boys must prepare for the Knights on Tuesday.
