Chiefs start 2011 with convincing win
After all the Ups and Downs of 2010, we are really not sure how things will unfold for the 99 Chiefs now that we are in 2011, but if the first game of the new year is any indication, it will be successful.

This was a well played game from the goaltender on out as the Chiefs controlled play from start to finish.  When our goalie (C. Sonier) was called upon, he was there for the save and the Chiefs romped to a 5-0 victory over the Cyclones from Chatham-Kent.  Yes, the score was only 1-0 for 2/3 of the game, and that, I'm sure, caused a bit of heartache for the Chief supporters, but the flow of the game was all in the Chiefs favour and barring some serious bad luck, the Chiefs had it under control.  Midway through the third, as D. Panziera scored a beauty, it was clear the Chiefs would take the 2 points and all that was left was the "S" word.   Nobody jinxed it apparently an Sonier earned another well-deserved shutout.

This is good sign as the Chiefs are in a battle for playoff positioning and need to obtain all the points they can against the teams that are below them in the standings.  An excellent start, I'd say.  The next regular season game is not until Jan 15 as the Chiefs head to Niagara Falls this weekend for their last tournament of the season.  Here's hoping it is as successful as the previous tournament in Hamilton.  If the boys play like they did in this game, we should be in good shape to make a run at the trophy.
