Chiefs split double-header in Windsor/Essex
The 99 Chiefs spent the day Sunday in the extreme Southwest end of Ontario.   The Chiefs scored 9 goals on Sunday, but only managed 2 points on this trip.

The early game saw Windsor keep the score close for just over a period and a half, before EMC took over and poured in 5 goals.  C. Sonier played well in the nets when called upon and earned his 3rd shutout of the season.  Goal scores were D. Panziera with the hat trick, R. Root, and D. Winchester.  We were short 2 players for this game and the remaining boys sucked it up and all played well.

We now had a few hours to kill before the 6:15 game in Essex against rival Sun County.  This game started out marvelously as C. Abbott, R. Root, and M. Philip (who missed the earlier game) score to give the Chiefs a 3-0 lead heading into the third.  Sun County scored their first about 7 minutes into the period, but S. Bulitka answered to restore the 3 goal lead. The Panthers scored again a few minutes later and the score stayed at 4-2 until the Chiefs were called for a penalty with just over 2 minutes remaining.  The rest, as they say, is history as the Panthers scored 3 quick (I mean really quick) goals against the stunned Chiefs and took this one 5-4. As my kids would say it was an epic fail!

To say this was disheartening would be an understatement.  To the boys' credit, they took it in stride and hopefully we can chalk it up to simply running out of gas after a very long day.  We have plenty of time to regroup as we are not on the ice again until Wednesday and don't play again until Sunday @ home against Hamilton.
