Chiefs Rebrand!
For the first time in over 29 years, the Elgin Middlesex Hockey Association will not be called 'The Chiefs' when it begins play in September 2022.

Elgin Middlesex Canucks will be our new name!  See our new logo and jerseys attached.  We will finish this season as Chiefs, but will start the transition to Canucks in May, while preparing for the upcoming 2022/23 season.

As you know, a request to rebrand came to us from the Municipality and the OHRC in 2021.  The EMC board decided to initiate a contest with our membership to submit rebrand ideas.  We wanted something authentic and unique to our area and wanted our membership to drive our decision.  As far as our minor hockey association's history, we were hoping to keep the EMC, and our association colours of orange, black and white.

When we started looking at the entries, we saw some great ideas!  We loved the Philadelphia Flyers jersey style and the Canucks name and logo, that a few members submitted.  We made a few modifications to make the logo more our own, we think it looks clean and slick.  The new name and logo also happen to pay tribute to two of Elgin's favourite and most famous alumni, Bo Horvat and Travis Konecny.

As Elgin Middlesex Chiefs, we understand the impact and importance of this rebrand.  We also know that many of you have grown up and have been a part of the pride behind the name 'Chiefs'.  'Chiefs' will always be a part of our history, and our memories will remain, even after the rebrand.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this contest, and big shout out to Austin and Jackson Brekelmans who submitted a picture of the Flyers alternate jersey with the Canucks name and logo!

Go Chiefs!  (Go Canucks!)
