Elgin Middlesex Chiefs Summer Hockey Skills Development Program - Stage II
EMC is announcing STAGE II of our summer hockey skills development program.  Once again it will be only available to Chiefs players rostered for the 2019/2020 season.

This program will provide a progression and transition from our individual skills development sessions that took place in July with Stage I.   The teaching and training focus will shift to positional skills, fast paced flow drills as well as conditioning later in August.  In addition, the last 25 minutes of each session will include a fun 3 on 3 ‘perimeter’ game.

ON-ICE SESSIONS – Due to COVID-19 and the OHF’s current Return to Hockey Framework, in accordance with Public Health Ontario, we will now be allowed 18 players and 2 instructors for each on-ice session.  Each group (team) will get 2 x 1.5 hour sessions per week, (goalies will continue with their Friday goalie only instructional session.    Unfortunately still no spectators.   Updated dressing rooms rules as well as rink regulations that pertain to health and safety and proper physical distancing will follow shortly.

COST and SCHEDULE: The schedule is still under development – it will start the week of August 10 – and sessions are planned to take place between 4 and 10 pm, Monday-Friday.  Further details, team schedules and costs will be sent to families via email.

INSTRUCTORS - A quality and professional program will be developed and delivered by EMC instructors Jason Williams, Dave Warren and Johnny Warren.  Also, 1 additional coach will be allowed and added for each session.

Goaltenders – our EMC goalie coach mentor Jason Van Spronsen of Future Pro will once again conduct our goalie only instructional sessions once weekly.  Each goalie will also be invited to attend both of the regular scheduled weekly ice sessions with his or her age group.

OFF-ICE STRENGTH and CONDITIONING: For optional off-ice hockey training, please refer to the links on our EMC website.   Brent McKenzie of Precision Fitness and Performance has designed some video training sessions specifically for our EMC players.

SAFETY PROCEDURES: Following the guidelines laid out in the OHF Return to Play Framework and working in conjunction with our home rink, the Komoka Health and Wellness Centre,we have done our utmost to decrease risk and ensure the health and safety of our players and their families is a priority.   Although some of the precautions and rules we all have to follow to make this summer skills program work may seem like a hassle and at times complicated, it will be worth it to get our Chief players back on the ice and playing hockey.  We on the EMC Board are excited and happy to provide this opportunity.
