The
Elgin Middlesex Chiefs have announced their Coach of the Year award for the 2019/20 season. This year’s recipient is our Minor Midget
coach
Jason Williams.
Jason’s team finished in 1st
place and went undefeated in the regular season with 25 wins, 0 losses and 8
ties. In addition they lead the league with
147 goals scored while allowing the least against at 55.
In playdowns they defeated Lambton, Huron Perth and then Waterloo to win the Alliance Championship Final. They also qualified for the OHL Cup and were considered strong contenders but unfortunately because of COVID19, the tournament had to be cancelled.
In addition, at the 2020 OHL Priority Selection Draft in April, nine players from his team were chosen.
Coach Williams ran an exemplary hockey instructional and teaching program that greatly benefited all players involved and set a standard for development that all EMC coaches can aspire to. His bench staff included Danny Syvret, Darren Williams and Nathan Craze.
Jason is the inaugural winner of this annual award. His name will be the first to be inscribed on the EMC COACH OF THE YEAR plaque that will hang in the lobby at our home rink in Komoka.
Thanks and well done Jason!
